B is for Bowling

 I love spying on the old men playing bowls. It seems like such a relaxing, slow paced game.  Watching them while eating my lunch made for a very enjoyable afternoon.

cambodia

This shot was taken while I was on the back of a motorbike, which explains the extreme blur.  This was in the little town of Kampot, southern Cambodia, where locals had gathered for a mini-carnivale.  It was quite a non-event, with only one ferris wheel, however the atmosphere was very festive, with local food galore.

Sonnet XVII

  I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.

I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way than this:

Where I do not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

ze bubble

The Bubble man lives on Acland Street, St Kilda. He brings a smile to many little kids' faces.  He also delights the older kids too, even the adults.  The best thing about the Bubble man is that he loves absolutely every bubble he makes. He can't get enough of them.
